Redevelopment authority approves $43,650 change order to add irrigation and sod at Northfield Point

Martin presented an estimate from De Silva to replace seeding with irrigation and sod in the outdoor classroom area, explaining the rationale: "If we bring the irrigation and put the sod down, they can be on it in 48 hours," she said, adding that seeded lawn can take up to six weeks to establish and be usable. She said the bid fits within the grant budget and engineers reviewed the proposal.
The board discussed costs and scope. Martin said the proposed work fits within the grant pool and that there would still be contingency funds available. The motion read into the record described approving change order number 1 to De Silva (estimate dated 07/27/2026) "in the amount of $43,650 and to authorize the chair or executive director to sign change order number 1 to Da Silva's contract for this work." The motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
Next steps: Martin said she will return with an electrical estimate for the irrigation controller (city power is being coordinated) at the next meeting.
