A council member moved to defer the third reading of Ordinance 23-2026, which would amend Article 5 of Horry County's zoning ordinance addressing landscape buffers and tree-preservation standards. The mover said there are legitimate amendments the council has agreed upon but staff needs time to draft them.
"I'd like to make a motion that we defer the 3rd reading of this ordinance for, 2 weeks to the June 16 meeting date," the council member said. The motion was seconded and the chair called for the ayes; the motion carried and the item was deferred to the next meeting to allow staff to prepare the amendments.
Council did not adopt any changes at this meeting and directed staff to draft the agreed modifications for formal consideration on the new date.
