Council updates facility rental fees and amends special-events code to add administrative review

Council approved amendments to the General Fee Schedule for facility rentals and adopted an ordinance updating the definition of special events in city code. Community Services Director Derric Rykert explained the Quail Cove Park amphitheater fees are set as full-day rentals and that additional special event fees would apply for larger events; he noted events with more than 500 attendees trigger police staffing costs the city must cover.
Legal Counsel Heather Schriever explained the ordinance includes a new Section 5.06.040 creating an administrative review process for applicants whose special event permits are denied. Council Member Clark Taylor moved to adopt the code changes including the administrative review section; the motion passed.
