Council sets Truth-in-Taxation hearing for Aug. 11 to consider exceeding certified tax rate
Summary
Because the county-certified rate is provided later in the process, the council adopted a resolution to consider a tax rate that may exceed that certified rate and set a Truth-in-Taxation hearing for August 11, 2026.

Budget Officer Anna Montoya explained that the County provides the certified tax rate in mid-June; accordingly, the council adopted a resolution stating its intent to consider a tax rate that may exceed the certified rate once that number is available. The council set a Truth-in-Taxation public hearing for August 11, 2026.
Council Member Ryan Hunter moved to adopt Resolution No. 2026-05-22R and Council Member Ernie John seconded. The resolution passed by unanimous recorded vote among members present. Montoya emphasized that this action is procedural and does not itself raise taxes; it establishes the process by which the council would consider a final rate when the certified number arrives.
