Commission approves three improvement districts and engineer contract for Nelson’s Ridge Unit 6 Phase 4

The Board of Pottawatomie County Commissioners unanimously approved three resolutions creating improvement districts for Nelson’s Ridge Unit 6 Development Phase 4 after brief public hearings on May 4.
Assistant County Administrator Heather Gladbach presented estimated costs during the hearings: $348,788.70 for sanitary sewer, $1,425,217.17 for streets and $245,567.40 for water. The board opened and closed each public hearing after calling for comments; none were recorded. The board approved Resolution 2026-18 (sanitary sewer), Resolution 2026-19 (streets) and Resolution 2026-20 (water) by 4-0 votes.
In follow-up action the commission approved Resolution 2026-21 establishing a construction fund for the improvement district and approved an engineer’s contract with SMH with a minor change noted by the board. Motions were moved and seconded on the floor: Merl Page moved the sanitary sewer resolution; Gary D. Yenzer seconded. Similar motions carried for the other resolutions and the contract; Bill Drew was not present for the meeting.
The actions formally create the improvement districts and authorize the financing/engineering steps necessary to proceed toward construction. The approved resolutions and contract move the Nelson’s Ridge Unit 6 Phase 4 work into the design and funding phase; the board recorded each vote as 4-0.
The meeting adjourned at 12:24 p.m.; the board listed a work session later in the day regarding the Emmett Fire Station.
