Council approves senior-center LED and new Public Works network switch, postpones some lighting bids to Aug. 10

Council considered an amendment to the fiscal-year budget that included several lighting upgrades and an IT hardware replacement. City Manager De La Rosa described the senior-center ceiling LED upgrade ($4,488), replacement spotlights for the city hall and public-safety complex ($7,756), a $12,004.45 bid to replace bulbs and add surge protection on Boston Avenue, and a $2,489.50 replacement POE network switch for Public Works.
De La Rosa said of LED fixtures: "We believe that LED will last longer... it should use up less electricity, but it will make it much brighter." Councilmember Curtis moved to separate and postpone the flagpole-spotlight mounts and the Boston Avenue LED-bulb replacement until Aug. 10 to solicit additional bids; the motion to postpone was seconded and approved. The council then voted to approve the senior-center LED ceiling upgrade and the Public Works network switch on the same meeting with unanimous votes among members present.
