The council appointed five members to the Nederland Planning & Zoning Commission and filled the vacancy left by chair Scott Watches. Councilmember Jones moved to nominate Johnny Bijeaux of Nederland; Jones described Bijeaux as a long-time Nederland resident with extensive planning and development experience and recommended him for the commission. The council voted to confirm Lance Howell, Michael Bordelon, Richard Rupp, Dylan Fairley and Johnny Bijeaux as the five commissioners.
Jones introduced the nominee and said Bijeaux "has more than 40 years of experience in planning and development across both public and private sectors," noting experience on commercial, residential and industrial projects. Councilmembers who had spoken with Bijeaux supported the nomination. The council took a single vote to confirm the five appointments and congratulated the new commissioners.
