Mayor Shelton praises staff response to outage, announces spray day and downtown music series

Mayor Nick Shelton used his report at the July 13 council meeting to thank public-safety crews and city staff for their work during a recent holiday power outage. He thanked Chief Connell and the fire department for a spray day that distributed more than 1,000 popsicles and announced an additional spray day scheduled for Thursday from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
Shelton also promoted NODE X NODEWEST, a three-night downtown music series scheduled to start Thursday with nightly performances from 6–9 p.m. The mayor thanked staff for their efforts over the holiday weekend and noted that Joe Ray reportedly cooked over 60 pounds of meat for crews working in the community. Shelton also mentioned serving as a judge at a recent Old Boys Toys Club Car Show and identified Jerrid Cook’s 1968 Ford F100 as his Mayor’s Choice among more than 100 cars in attendance.
The mayor’s report aimed to acknowledge staff and community volunteers and to highlight upcoming family-oriented downtown activities this week.
