The St. Helena Parish Police Jury voted unanimously on Dec. 9 to adopt a resolution requesting release from obligations associated with federal grant funds used for construction of an 8,000-square-foot steel-frame/metal building on one acre in the St. Helena Parish Industrial Park. The resolution authorizes the Secretary-Treasurer to submit payment in the amount of $33,840.00 by cashier’s check to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The minutes state the Police Jury will retain title and full ownership of the property upon receipt of the required resolution and compensation.
The motion was made by Quanika H. Muse and seconded by Jule C. Wascom and recorded as unanimously carried. The minutes do not include the underlying grant agreement language or the USDA’s written terms; those documents would provide detail on legal conditions for release and title retention.
