Parish notes senior hurricane workshop, elder services events and federal nutrition contracts

The parish reported minor exterior renovations at Paulina Park (installation of soffits and replacement of downspouts) and that St. James Parish Elderly Services will host a hurricane preparedness workshop for registered seniors on Monday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Bank Reception Hall; the workshop will be conducted by the St. James Parish CAER Group. Parish officials also noted that the Elderly Services held a successful first annual crawfish boil on May 22, with Koch Methanol sponsoring and David Winchester donating jambalaya.
In new business the council adopted Resolution 26-122 to authorize signing the Fiscal Year 2027 Nutrition Service Incentive Program contract (NSIP) between the Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs and St. James Parish Government, St. James Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, and Resolution 26-123 approving the FY27 Title III contract between the Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs and the parish Department of Human Resources. The actions authorize the parish to receive federal elderly nutrition and Title III services funding for the coming program year.
