Operations Director Rick Webre updated the council on several capital and maintenance projects. He said contractors are relocating a water line on Lena Street for the Humble Phase 3 drainage project and crews completed lowering canal levels near South Vacherie ahead of forecasted heavy rain. Webre also reported embankment repairs on the Buddy Whitney Canal and said plans for the 5th District Recreation Building are ready to go out for bid once one outstanding document is received.
Webre said crews are monitoring the Amy Street project and are performing routine outfall maintenance and mowing operations across both the Eastbank and the Westbank. Council members asked for additional updates on Hwy 20 and Lime Street projects, and Councilman Jasmin requested follow-up on a District 5 park sign and the Barras Street railroad crossing.
