County accepts low bid for culvert pipe; Maple Hill overlay to begin

"Contech Engineered Solutions bid $67,286.70 and the Welborn Sales, Inc bid was $66,456.90. Commissioners accepted the low bid from Welborn Sales, Inc.," the minutes state. Josh Hinch told commissioners crews have completed crossroad culvert projects and are wrapping up entrance culvert replacements in the same area. Schilling Construction was scheduled to start an overlay on Maple Hill Road the day of the meeting; the project was expected to last about one week. Road crews also continued pothole patching countywide.
The minutes record no contested discussion about the bid award. No contract number or funding source for the culvert purchase was included in the published minutes.
