Commissioners approve fireworks, campground host and lake improvements at Jefferson Lake

Jefferson County commissioners approved multiple Parks & Recreation items for Jefferson Lake during the April 6 meeting, including a fireworks contract, campground host, gate arms and site improvements.
Parks & Rec Director Martin Jones presented the Fourth of July fireworks contract with Acme Pro Pyro for $28,500; Jones noted a $50,000 donation from Tadd Jenkins to sponsor the event. The board approved the contract with $13,500 to be paid before the display and the balance afterward.
The board also approved a campground host contract with Laurie Koonrad at $350 every two weeks from May 1 through the end of September, purchase of two gate arms and exit gate for $6,526.94 to enforce pass entry/exit, and 25 cubic yards of 3000‑psi concrete for island shelter pads ($6,352.50). The board approved a concession contract for CreamyDaze and purchases for a new general store (items listed in Exhibit B) including an ice machine ($1,195.99) and a deep freezer ($397.97).
County staff indicated impact fees could be used for island improvements; standard procurement and vendor contract terms will follow in department files.
