After executive session, commission directs $100/day fines for zoning and feedlot violations

The commission entered executive session under NDCC 44-04-19.1 at 10:40 AM for legal advice concerning a Ward County zoning violation. Present were all commissioners plus the auditor/treasurer, state’s attorney, planning administrator, highway engineer and a county secretary. The executive session ended at 10:49 AM.
After returning to open session, the commission directed Planning Administrator Beth Pietsch and State’s Attorney Roza Larson to draft two letters on State’s Attorney letterhead: (1) a letter imposing a $100-per-day fine for a conditional use permit and variance violation until the violation is resolved, approved or removed; and (2) a letter imposing a $100-per-day fine for an unpermitted feedlot and stating that no additional or new animals be allowed until the feedlot is permitted or the operation ceases. Both directives were approved by roll call vote.
