The Board voted to establish a Dickinson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and adopted bylaws outlining nine voting members and a volunteer structure intended to increase grant opportunities for parks, trails and recreational programs.
County staff said forming the advisory committee would allow the county to apply for grants it otherwise cannot pursue. The bylaws call for nine voting members representing user groups such as youth sports, trails, tourism, seniors and county government. "It's more of a volunteer…that would open up more grant opportunities," the county administration said.
Board members approved the resolution and bylaws by motion and asked supervisors to identify potential appointees for the committee at the next meeting. Staff offered to provide printed copies of the bylaws and to help distribute them to potential candidates.
