The court discussed a possible two-week delay to allow judges and community members to meet with TIDC, but staff noted the county must either accept or decline the award and cannot indefinitely hold funds that other counties may request. After discussion, a motion to proceed with returning the grant and rescinding the October 14, 2025 acceptance resolution was moved and carried by the court.
Court members recorded the motion and voted in favor; the county judge was authorized to execute required de-obligation paperwork with TIDC if needed. Public commenters at the meeting had urged delaying or reconsidering the return; the court’s vote finalizes the county’s decision at this meeting.
