Commission hears Stonewood North Estates CID petition; assessments estimated under $100/month

"The assessments are estimated to be under the $100 a month that that was requested by the property owners," Dominic said, and he explained that mailings and newspaper notice must precede a public hearing. He also described a 60-day waiting period after which bonds could be issued for the project.
Commissioners and staff discussed timing for project work and options if assessments do not immediately produce construction funds: issuing bonds now on a reimbursement basis and reimbursing county funds later; or waiting until assessments begin (likely the next tax cycle). Dominic said bonds would be general obligations payable through the special assessments and that property owners could prepay their assessments if they chose.
There was no formal vote; the commission indicated it was comfortable with petition circulation and asked staff to proceed with signature collection and required notices.
