Board hears rising O&M costs as East Side parks come online; water and landscaping are largest drivers

"They pay, just in rough numbers, about $50,000 a month on the East Side for maintenance activities..." the staff member said, and added that staff expects one‑time mitigation spending this year of about $500,000 with roughly $130,000 annually thereafter to sustain fire mitigation and mowing.
The presentation listed line‑item changes for utilities, monument maintenance, snow removal and landscape contracts, and noted a $90,000 state grant (three‑year) for mitigation work as well as an increase to the HOA/private property owner grant program from $30,000 to $50,000 next year. The board discussed these cost drivers and how O&M pressure will compete with capital choices in future years.
