Dupont board to pursue ORCA grant; engineers outline sewage plans and pump repairs

The Dupont Town Board on June 9 agreed to pursue an ORCA grant and continue planning for upgrades to the town sewage system. Board members were briefed that the income study for the Town’s sewage utilities is complete and that Patty will attend the next meeting to discuss grant application next steps.
Engineers from Gonzalez have reviewed maps, the service area, the lift station and the lagoons and are preparing a plan and cost estimate for required improvements. The board is awaiting quotes to either repair or replace pumps at the lift station; the transcript notes Scott Williams had been obtaining quotes but is currently hospitalized, delaying that work. The board also recorded a broken sewer line in a field on the Read property and directed staff to repair the break as soon as possible and to address several manholes identified as needing repair.
Next steps recorded by the board include following up on pump quotes, receiving the Gonzalez cost estimate, and a planned discussion with Patty at the next meeting to advance the ORCA grant application. No formal vote on awarding contracts or accepting a bid was recorded at the June 9 session.
