A sponsor (speaker 10, recognized in the hearing) introduced House Bill 14-65 as a local bill for Union County that would recalculate building permit fees from a flat fee to $0.50 per square foot for both residential and commercial construction. The sponsor said the last permit increase was in 1972 and emphasized this is a building permit fee rather than an impact fee.
"It simply recalculate the rate of building permits from a flat fee to 50¢ per square foot for both residential and commercial," the sponsor said. The sponsor noted the change applies only to Union County.
The clerk reported the committee vote as 6 ayes, 1 no, and 4 present not voting; the sponsor reported "Bill goes out," indicating the measure advanced from the committee.
