Designs for Orchards Park would add water-spray play and inclusive playgrounds

Clark County staff said community interest drove a decision to include a water-spray play feature in renovation concepts for Orchards Community Park and to replace existing play equipment with inclusive designs.
Evelyn Ives said staff heard “a lot of community interest in having water spray play,” particularly from residents on Vancouver’s east side and Brush Prairie. The presentation showed concepts that keep the play area near the park entrance to improve visibility and oversight and that expand the play footprint to replace damaged and outdated equipment.
Planners said the grant covers the play-area replacement and the water-spray feature; other elements such as a centrally located restroom and additional parking would use county capital funds.
