The Cass County Commission approved Resolution 2635 authorizing payment to the Missouri Department of Revenue in response to demand letters dated 03/05/2026 and 04/03/2026 for repayment of previously distributed adult-use marijuana sales tax.
A commissioner provided an update during the meeting, saying the county is responding to what he described as a recent court decision affecting return sales tax obligations: "Just, we're being asked by the so we probably have a new return sales tax that was, decided by the courts to be Okay," the commissioner said. The resolution was moved, seconded and approved by the board.
The resolution implements the county's response to the Department of Revenue demands; commissioners did not elaborate further on amount or repayment schedule during the public portion of the meeting.
