The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors, sitting as Vernon Township trustees, scheduled a new fence viewing for Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the southeast corner of the southwest quarter of Section 2-T67N-R9W after certified mail to the responding party arrived too late to meet the statutory five-day notice requirement. The minutes state that notice of the fence viewing was delivered in person to Candy Wenke on Feb. 3, 2025, but the Notice that acting township clerk Lisa Plecker sent via certified mail to Julie E. Andrianopoli, trustee of the Benjamine A. Thorud Irrevocable Trust, was not delivered until the morning of Feb. 10 and therefore did not comply with Iowa Code Section 359A.3. Pursuant to Iowa Code §359A.7, the trustees directed the acting township clerk to publish notice of the rescheduled viewing in the Van Buren County Register on Feb. 20 and Feb. 27. The minutes do not record a motion, vote, or the names of any mover/second for the scheduling; they record the scheduling as the trustees' action following legal advisement.
