The Cass County Commission voted to approve Resolution 2632 authorizing the lease of two John Deere tractors through a Missouri Department of Transportation contract.
County staff member Travis told the commission the program allows "350 hours per tractor for $7,000 a year," and that the higher-horsepower leased tractors are used to avoid placing excessive hours on county-owned machines. "That way, we don't put all the hours on the tractors we have," he said. The board moved, seconded and recorded the vote in favor.
Staff said the leased equipment will be used for heavier tasks (described as "pull our bigger roofing room" in the presentation) that would otherwise accelerate wear on the county fleet. The motion passed with the commission recording two in favor and none opposed.
