Van Buren County awards farm lease to Goehring family for $40,000 a year

The accepted lease includes the row-crop ground, pasture ground and the cattle lot and requires the lessees to install two stretches of perimeter fence and trench in a water line.
The board opened sealed bids from county residents Nathan DeLong and Bill Goehring & Family and discussed the proposals before voting. The motion to accept the Goehring bid passed with Supervisors Meek and House voting in favor and Vice Chairman Waugh recording the lone dissent. The item was recorded in the minutes as a formal board action and will be memorialized in the lease documents.
