Veterans groups urge passage of bills on food assistance and research funding

For SB 1224, David Cuda, the VFW state commander (testimony used the spelling "Cuda"), and representatives from Heroic Hearts Project and the Vet Fund Foundation urged the committee to fund research into alternative PTSD treatments. Cuda argued the stakes were high: "Every veteran lost to suicide is a son, daughter, husband, wife, parent, friend, or battle buddy whose life mattered," he said. Committee members signaled broad support for both bills and agreed to move them forward to Appropriations.
