Summary

Chair updated the board on Woodbury County Fair logistics and a separate local road dust-control request.
The Chair thanked Laura Severs and Secondary Roads staff for getting signage placed to direct fairgoers into Mobile and said the fair board appreciated the effort. The Chair then raised a request from a landowner about a road surfaced with a claycrete product and asked the board for consensus to fund temporary dust control on the short (estimated 0.25–0.5 mile) stretch while staff seeks a permanent solution. “I would like to see the board, pay for that and provide some relief to the the people that live on that short stretch of the road as, Laura and I work to find us a more permanent solution for our staff and for those landowners that live out there,” the Chair said, noting the cost was not in Laura’s current budget.
Board members asked whether signage placed for the fair would remain during related events; Chair and staff indicated signs could remain for several weeks to cover the rodeo and hot rod rally. The chair adjourned the meeting with no formal vote recorded on the dust-control funding request; staff will follow up on scope, costs and potential funding at a future meeting.
