County to sign federal-aid agreements for two bridge projects; expected federal share ~$979,271 each

The Woodbury County board voted to sign federal-aid agreements that will allow two Competitive Highway Bridge Program projects to move forward near Bronson.
Secondary Roads Engineer Laura Severs said the Iowa DOT has approved the projects for federal funding and asked the county to sign the federal-aid agreements so the DOT can finalize federal reimbursement. “So now, we are to the point where the DOT, the Iowa DOT, would like us to sign the federal aid agreement so that they can turn that over to the feds to be able to receive that funding for these 2 bridges,” Severs said. She estimated each bridge at $1,500,000 and said the county plans to receive $979,271 for each bridge under the grant.
Chair noted that roughly 80% of the project costs would be reimbursed to the county and thanked Severs’ team for securing the funding. The board approved the motion to sign the agreements by voice vote, 5-0. Work and invoicing will proceed according to Iowa DOT and federal grant procedures.
