County hires Paycourt to pursue more than $800,000 in unpaid court costs

Clerk Jon Eads told commissioners the county plans to replace its current collections vendor, Capital Recovery, with Paycourt to pursue unpaid court costs. Eads estimated more than $800,000 is potentially recoverable and said Paycourt charges 30 percent of each payment at the time the debtor pays. "This would be an additional 30% owed on top of the debt," Eads said.
Commissioners approved a three-year contract for the new vendor with a 30-day termination clause to cover renewal and transition; Eads confirmed Paycourt would take over outstanding cases after a 30-day transition. The county will receive weekly updates from Paycourt about contacts and payments, according to Eads.
