Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Administrator Melanie Urban, Hays Med CFO Michelle Buckner and Shae Veach, VP of Regional Operations, presented April 2026 financials to the commissioners at 10:00 a.m. Michelle Buckner said inpatient volume, outpatient services and clinic visits were down for the month, while 340B drug reimbursement was higher; year-to-date operations remained $183,000 above budget.
Hospital leaders apologized for not having a repayment proposal ready for Pawnee County. Shae Veach said lower inpatient volume this year will lead to an increase in Medicare reimbursement rates next year and noted that legislation had attempted changes to the 340B reimbursement mechanism.
