Morgan Boothe, Clerk of Circuit Court, told the board on March 26 that the courthouse needs maintenance including replacement of courtroom carpet and repair of damaged interior plaster. Boothe also raised concerns about sidewalk conditions adjacent to the Swails Insurance side of the building and requested removal of a few benches in the courtroom to allow more spacing between rows.
Boothe suggested the county seek preservation or historical‑resource grants to help fund repairs. The board recorded the clerk's facility and preservation recommendations as part of the constitutional‑officer updates; no immediate funding decision was made during the retreat.
