James Houchins reported that he and County Administrator Michael McGuinness met with the West Piedmont Planning District Commission about broadband and said the Commission and the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development are working to advance the project. Houchins described staff efforts as coordinated with regional and state partners to move the broadband project forward.
Clayton Kendrick noted that a representative from RiverStreet is scheduled to attend the West Piedmont PDC's monthly meeting the following night, which staff said will provide additional technical and implementation information. No formal action or funding decisions were taken by the Authority during this update; staff said coordination will continue with the Commission and DHCD.
