Patrick County board petitions court for special election to fill Smith River seat

The written resolution attached to the board action notes the next regular election for the seat is scheduled for November 2029 with an effective date of Jan. 1, 2030. The resolution directs the county attorney to file the Petition for a Writ of Election with the Circuit Court on the county's behalf. The board did not set an election date during the meeting and delegated the procedural filing to the county attorney.
