Christie listed seven applicants and their requests: Boys and Girls Club ($30,000); Sequim Farmers and Artisans Market ($44,500); Sequim Senior Services/Shipley Center ($12,000); Dungeness River Nature Center ($3,739.20); Sequim Health and Housing Collaborative ($120,000); Sequim Community Aid ($15,000); and Olympic Peninsula YMCA ($44,502.92). She described each applicant’s deliverables and noted staff completed pre-clearance checks on eligibility, Sequim-centric service and prior reporting compliance. Council members were asked to complete individual score sheets by August 3; Christie said she will aggregate scores and return to council on August 10 for award decisions.
Christie also explained scorecard mechanics and gate checks used by staff, including an all-or-nothing community-need item in the council scoring sections. The council asked clarifying questions about past awards and whether in-kind city support (venue/electricity) was provided to the farmers market; finance staff confirmed the city provides venue and some funding focused on food access. Council is scheduled to reconvene August 10 at 5:00 PM for a work session to finalize awards.
