County approves $7.35M LMIG road contract, writes off small bad-debt amounts and pays $3.32M in bills

Commissioners approved a joint LMIG bid from C.W. Matthews Contracting Company in the total amount of $7,347,216.01; Houston County's portion for unincorporated roads is $2,949,280.94, funded through LMIG, LRA and 2018 SPLOST funds. Commissioner Byrd presented the request; the board approved it unanimously. Chairman Perdue noted dissatisfaction with the pace of work on Elberta Road but said the county will continue working with C.W. Matthews under the LMIG intergovernmental agreement.
The board also approved write-offs for FY25 bad debt totaling $23,344.93 in the Water Fund and $28,290.98 in the Solid Waste Fund (the latter split as $27,482.58 for Collections and $800.40 for Disposal). Commissioners noted these amounts are under 1% of revenues and necessary for year-end audit closure. The board approved payment of bills totaling $3,321,510.31.
