Houston County approves five special-exception home-businesses, tables two
Summary

Chief Building Inspector Tim Andrews presented Special Exception applications #2861–#2868 to the Houston County Board of Commissioners during the Aug. 5 meeting. After a public hearing in which no opposition was recorded for the listed applicants, the board voted unanimously (motion by Byrd, second by Gottwals) to approve applications #2862 (Justin & Heather Perkins — Car Rental), #2863 (Hugh Morris Jr — Heating & Air Conditioning), #2864 (Cristian Gutu — Custom Wood Pictures), #2867 (Cameron & Angela Andrews — Mobile Home Hardship) and #2868 (Emanuel & Jeniker McBride — Daycare). The board tabled #2861 (Holly Moss — Food Truck) and #2865 (Brandon & Sarah Graham — Residential Cleaning) for later consideration.
County Attorney Tom Hall advised applicants that board approval of a Special Exception does not override private neighborhood restrictive covenants: “even if the Board of Commissioners approves an application, neighborhood covenants may still impose certain restrictions upon or against home businesses.” Approved applicants were told to apply for a business license at the Commissioner's Office as the next step.
