Commissioners recognize local military personnel, announce library summer programs and update on animal control facility
Summary
The board thanked local Air Force personnel, heard about summer reading programs at county libraries, introduced a Public Works intern, and was told the new Warner Robins animal control facility (a 2024 SPLOST project) has its design out for bid.
The board publicly recognized SSgt. Ashli Miles and Airman 1st Class Andrew Perez from Robins Air Force Base. SSgt. Miles said she has been with the Air Force for seven years and "plans to leave active-duty service and serve in the Air Force Reserves." Airman Perez said he joined the Air Force in 2023, is an Aviation Resource Manager, and is "glad to have at least three more years stationed at Robins" and enjoys living in Georgia and Houston County.
Houston County Library Director J. Sara Paulk distributed information about summer activities at all three county library branches and summer reading programs. During public comment, Director of Operations Brian Jones introduced Public Works intern Ben Ducree (Kennesaw State University, Environmental Science). Robyn Wood asked about the status of the new Warner Robins animal control facility; Chairman Perdue said the facility is a 2024 SPLOST-funded project and that its design has been put out for bid.
