County will provide energy and maintenance for new roundabout lighting under GDOT agreement

Houston County approved an Intergovernmental Lighting Agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for lighting at the SR 11/SR 49 at CR 1717/Houston Lake Road roundabout (P.I. no 0019838). Under the terms presented, GDOT will supply materials and perform installation while the County will be responsible for energy costs and ongoing maintenance.
Commissioner Talton presented the request and the Board voted unanimously to approve the agreement. Chairman Perdue thanked Public Works staff for their cooperation with GDOT on the project.
The agreement formalizes responsibilities between GDOT and the county for the lighting portion of the roundabout project; the County's obligations include ongoing energy and maintenance costs once installation is complete.
