Houston County awards nearly $1 million contract to expand landfill gas collection system

Houston County approved awarding the Phase 6 (Stages 1A and 2B) expansion of its landfill Gas Collection and Control System (GCCS) to Integrity Environmental Solutions of Marietta for $996,873.75, funded by Solid Waste Capital Funds. County officials noted Subtitle D landfills are required to collect methane produced by refuse and that the county’s facility converts that methane into electricity using on‑site generators.
The motion to award the contract was presented by Commissioner Talton and passed with votes from Talton, Gottwals and Robinson. The Board’s action commits county capital funds to the project; project management and implementation will be handled as part of the Solid Waste department’s capital program.
