County renews three indigent defense contracts for juvenile court

The Board approved three FY26 Independent Contractor Agreements to provide legal representation for indigent persons in juvenile court matters. The agreements are: Glenda Harper at $16,666 per year (part-time), Caralyn J. Huddleston at $24,500 per year (part-time), and Kameyan Sims at $52,500 per year for services.
Ms. Robinson presented the request to renew the contracts, which the Board approved unanimously. The contracts are intended to satisfy constitutional and statutory requirements for indigent defense and the provisions of Uniform Juvenile Court Rule 8.3.
Chairman Perdue thanked staff and the attorneys for their work in Juvenile Court. The contracts will be administered per standard county procurement and contracting processes.
