Houston County commissioners voted July 22 to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Juvenile Court to support a Family Treatment Court and to provide a one-time payment of $89,000 from the Opioid Settlement Fund to support the program. Commissioner Robinson presented the request and the motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Perdue thanked Judge Wilburn for bringing the idea to Houston County and said he believed the approach would “make a big difference in the lives of those involved.” County officials said the payment will come from the county’s opioid settlement allocation and is intended to fund startup services tied to the FTC model.
