Houston County approves six special exceptions for home‑based businesses

The Houston County Board of Commissioners approved Special Exception Applications #2854, #2855, #2856, #2857, #2859 and #2860 on July 8, allowing named applicants to operate specific home‑based businesses pending any private covenant restrictions. Chief Building Inspector Tim Andrews presented the items and each applicant was present; there was no public opposition during the hearing.
County Attorney Tom Hall advised that Board approval of a special exception does not override private neighborhood covenants that may prohibit commercial activity; applicants who received approval were instructed to apply for a county business license at the Commissioner's Office.
