Private Acts Committee advances two private acts, both pass 8-0

House Bill 2666 (sponsored by Vaughn) would amend language governing funding for improvements at the FedEx Forum, tie certain allocations to an NBA lease with the Memphis Grizzlies, and allow the project to be phased in a way the sponsor said could "hopefully avoid bonded indebtedness." House Bill 2665 (sponsored by Shaw) would permit Brownsville to appoint judges who live outside Haywood County; the sponsor said the municipality is having difficulty filling in-county judicial posts. The clerk reported both votes as "8 ayes and 0 no's."
The committee recessed briefly during the meeting to reach a member and adjourned after completing its business. Both bills now move to the State and Local Government calendar for further consideration.
