"It cleans up some outdated language that's in their charter. It adds a new position called the town administrator who will act and manage the town," Chairman Crawford said when explaining the bill, saying the measure shifts Monterey to a manager-style government in which elected officials set policy and a hired administrator handles daily operations. Committee members asked no substantive policy questions before the vote.
The clerk reported the committee tally as 6 ayes and 2 nays; the chair announced that HB 2668 will proceed to the State and Local Government Committee for further consideration. No motion sponsor or seconder was recorded in the transcript and no amendments were offered during the committee session.
