Schools report on Veteran’s Day assembly, TV6 canathon, conferences and winter sports

Elementary, middle and high school leaders reported that parent/teacher conferences went well, TV6 canathon collection started, the Veteran’s Day assembly occurred with guest speaker Crystal LaFreniere, and winter sports have begun with Meet the Patriots scheduled for Nov. 25.
District administrators reported activity across grade levels: ARES and ARMS noted parent/teacher conferences had participation levels similar to prior years and that the TV6 canathon food drive began in both buildings. Middle school students enjoyed a Quarter 1 bowling outing and participated in the Veteran’s Day assembly with the high school.
High School Principal Cliff Fossitt said the Veteran’s Day assembly was held and thanked Crystal LaFreniere for serving as guest speaker and recognizing her military service; he also thanked Mrs. Marana for organizing the program. Fossitt mentioned Women in Construction at Northern Michigan University and an upcoming VIM group musical; Athletic Director Jake Skewis said winter sports have started, with the first home event a hockey game on Saturday and 'Meet the Patriots' scheduled for Nov. 25. Special Education lead Nathan Longton reported that College Board testing accommodation applications have been submitted.
