City staff opened public hearings on two separate assessment levies for fiscal year 2026‑27: one for the San Marcos Landscaping and Lighting District No. 1 and a second for the Vallecito Town Center Maintenance District. The staff presentation explained the council had approved preliminary engineer’s reports on June 23 and the hearings gave the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed assessment levies.
"This is a public hearing to receive public comment on the continued proposed levy assessments for fiscal year 20 26, 20 27 for the city of San Marcos landscaping and lighting district number 1," a staff member said during the presentation. With no public speakers for either hearing, councilmembers moved to close both hearings. Motions to approve both resolutions were made, seconded, and carried with affirmative votes announced by the mayor.
The action allows the city to continue collecting the assessments that provide ongoing revenue for those maintenance districts. The council did not record any detailed roll‑call tallies in the on‑record discussion; councilmembers announced "aye" and the mayor declared the motions carried.
