Airport commission hears FAA project updates; AGIS holds up runway closeout, helipad design moves forward with state match

Commissioners were briefed on the status of several FAA-related projects affecting Grant County Regional Airport. Mark Hagedorn of Ardurra reported the Runway 17/35 construction closeout is complete except for the Airport GIS (AGIS) approval, which the project team is following up with the FAA to resolve. "The only remaining item is the Airport GIS (AGIS) component," the minutes state, and staff are coordinating with the FAA on any additional information required.
The meeting covered other projects in the FAA portfolio. Mark summarized the Snow Removal Equipment project as awaiting contractor action with no confirmed delivery schedule and said the Land Acquisition project’s FAA grant closeout is being held pending completion of required Exhibit A documentation. He also said the Fuel System Upgrade bid timeline shifted: the project will be advertised April 1 and bids will open April 29, allowing a recommendation to the commission and FAA by May 1. Mark noted the schedule shift should not affect overall delivery because equipment has long lead times and the work does not require large paving contractors.
Haley Walker added the helipad Scope of Work has FAA approval and the design team is refining the fee ahead of submitting a grant application. The airport also received ODAV COAR grant funding in late February to support the helipad design match. Commissioners were told these steps will enable the airport to proceed with design submittal to the FAA once administrative items are in place.
The briefing included a broader CIP coordination note: Mark said coordination with the FAA Seattle Airports District Office raised questions about justification for a proposed Runway 9 extension, but overall discussions were productive. No formal decisions were made; commissioners will consider project award recommendations and grant-closeout materials as those items return to the commission.
