The St. Bernard Parish Council used part of its May 19 session to receive several brief updates and adopt a proclamation.
By unanimous consent the council proclaimed May 2026 as "Mental Health Awareness Month." The council then recognized Erin Bigner, Executive Director of the St. Bernard Parish Chamber of Commerce, for a brief update; minutes record the recognition but do not provide the update’s substance. Jeff Williams, Regional Director of the Southeast Flood Protection Authority—East, was recognized to give a brief statement regarding preparedness for the hurricane season. Mike Fernandez of Arpent Realty provided a quarterly update on the St. Bernard Parish housing market, and the Capital Projects Department presented an update that the council accepted by unanimous consent.
The minutes note the recognitions and that the motions to hear each update passed without objection, but they do not include verbatim remarks or detailed staff reports in the council record. Copies of department reports and any presentation materials are on file with the Clerk of Council.
