Board approves EDA lease to enable federal grant applications; workforce charter updated

Middlesex supervisors authorized a lease to give the Economic Development Authority a physical address for SAM registration and approved a Bay Consortium charter amendment to add Gloucester County and remove Eastern Shore localities.
Trent Funkhouser, the County’s EDA Director, told the Board the EDA has submitted grant applications to support planning for public access tied to a Deltaville waterfront acquisition. To enable the EDA to apply directly for federal funds it needs a System for Award Management (SAM) registration that requires a physical address and lease or utility documentation; at the EDA’s request the County drafted a lease to formalize office space and the Board approved and authorized the lease.
Mr. Funkhouser also presented a requested charter amendment for the Bay Consortium Workforce Development Board to remove Eastern Shore localities and add Gloucester County to better align the workforce region with commuting patterns and reduce travel burdens; the Board approved the updated charter by roll call.
