Drew Hammond, VDOT Assistant Resident Engineer for Land Use, told the Board the agency’s 24-month plan includes a Regent Road turn-lane project expected to begin in June 2027, a Deltaville multimodal/sidewalk project with anticipated construction in April 2028, and the Stampers Bay roundabout with anticipated August 2028 construction.
Supervisor Reginald A. Williams Sr. pressed VDOT about the 55-mph speed limit on Regent Road after public comments about repeated accidents; VDOT said District Traffic Engineering will reevaluate the 2021 speed study for Regent Road and has initiated a new speed study for Marsh Pungo Road to update 2010 data. The Board emphasized short-term safety improvements, including cautionary signage, while longer-term engineering reviews proceed.
